How to say goodbye to a place that has only just started to feel like home? This thought came to us when preparing the move from our current apartment. This in-between situation triggered us to think further about the meaning of home and how we define it. In this context, we both invited friends to do artistic interventions and performances in our empty apartment.
Their contributions to this spontaneous gathering offers us the possibility to think with them about the diverse senses of home. The works and performances think about distance and proximity, displacement and the “feeling of things falling into place for us” (James A. Tuedio, Thinking about Home). Can we think about home while we are still there or only once we leave it behind?
