01/04/18 – 01/07/18 Miriam Sentler, Artist in residency – RAVI Liége (BE)
RAVI: Résidences-Ateliers Vivegnis International supports the current creation in the field of visual arts. Defined in collaboration with the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the Résidences-Ateliers Vivegnis International project combines housing in new apartments (Vivegnis Housing) and artists’ studios in an old industrial building reassigned for this purpose. The daily management is ensured by a coordination team attached to the City of Liège. Artists also benefit from a scholarship, tools to disseminate their work and the support of a resource person who ensures the smooth running of residences, orients the professionals of the sector and offers meetings with other creators. Among the RAVI’s missions is also the development of a mobility and exchange program for the creators of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
With the RAVI, the City of Liège wants to help artists develop their practice but also to call them to engage in debates and to deal with the elements of their environment. It is also a question of highlighting the anchoring of the project in the city and in the Saint-Léonard district, according to one of the axes of the cultural policy which aims at creating the conditions of the dialogue between the artist and the society. The vocation of this tool is to serve a radiation that articulates the local to the international and participates in the registration of Liège on the world map.
